The Nub Cameroon 464 Torpedo cigar is a novel idea in cigars, which certainly been well received by cigar aficionados. As the name suggests these cigars are deliberately made short and stocky in the Oliva Cigar factory. The concept is that while many cigar sizes typically need to burn an inch or more before peaking in flavor.  The Nub, with its short stout shape cuts right to the chase and hits it's prime right from the start, and maintain itself right to the end.

Those unfamiliar with the shape and size of Nub cigars may do a double-take, but after trying one, never look back! Nubs were crafted for a unique purpose — the master rollers at the Oliva factory created a cigar that gets right to the point, and immediately hits the sweet spot instead of the typical slow-burn to the second third of common cigars. Thus, Nub cigars were born. Although a shorter length, the big ring gauge provides nice, long, and even-burning smoke. Packed with well-aged Nicaraguan long fillers and binder forming it’s core, Nubs are now available in a multiple sensational blends all with premium top shelf wrappers, including Cameroon, Connecticut Shade, Brazilian Maduro, and Habano. All offer a medium-bodied smoke that’ll be a hit with just about any palate preference.

Nub cigars are a brand under the Oliva umbrella.  The Oliva cigar heritage dates back well over 100 years, when Melanio Oliva cultivated his first tobacco crop in the fertile Pinar Del Rio region of Cuba in 1886. His growing operations were suspended while he fought in the Cuban War of Independence. Upon returning from the war, Melanio again took up cigar manufacturing. In the 1920’s Melanio’s son Facundo Oliva took the mantle of the cigar production, and he cultivated the Oliva family fields for many decades.

As the communists took over Cuba, the tobacco landscape changed and Facundo’s son Gilberto Oliva shifted from the growing business, to brokering tobacco. Then in the early 60’s the political pressure in Cuba became too great and Gilberto was forced to seek a country where the conditions allowed him to recreate that distinctive Cuban taste.

Gilberto finally found that fertile ground in Nicaragua, and today Gilberto along with his family are Nicaragua’s second largest grower of Cuban seed tobacco. From the same time tested methods of growing, curing, blending, and cigar rolling that built an empire, the Oliva cigar range has since earned many top industry accolades, awards and top ratings, from industry experts, publications and consumers alike. None greater than 2014 when Cigar Aficionado Magazine awarding the Oliva Serie V Melanio Figurado Cigar of the Year.

As always, all our fine Nub cigars are available for worldwide cigar delivery.
